More Info: The goal horn switch for the Los Angeles Kings is under the organ, and is operated by the Organist, Dieter Ruehle (Credit: MaddVentures).

"I'm Dieter Ruehle and I'm the Music Director and Organist for the LA Kings. My first season with the Kings was 1989-90. Here in LA, the first Kings goal horn was installed at our previous home, The Forum, in the mid-1990s. It was triggered by our former Public Address Announcer, the late David Courtney, who sat ice level between penalty boxes. When the Kings moved into our current home at Staples Center in October of 1999, we didn't have a goal horn. Instead, I played a recording of the The Forum's goal horn. However, prior to the 2007-'08 season, a goal horn was installed and is used to this day for Kings goals, and also at the beginning of each period when the Kings are introduced to take the ice. The goal 'horn' is actually six train horns (two sets of three) located in the catwalk high above the ice. And to this day, I trigger those horns by pushing a switch that's attached to the organ. Regarding goal songs, at The Forum I played a recording of I Love LA by Randy Newman. Since 2009, I play approximately 7 seconds of I Love LA followed immediately by a track called Power Ride which is an original goal song composition written for the Kings by Fred Coury. That's been our goal song combination since approximately 2009. Prior to Power Ride, I played a snippet of I Love LA followed by a track called Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation during our early years at Staples Center."
